F.A.Q
The full processes can take about 8 - 10 weeks. We cannot state exactly how long as these processes are very complex and difficult to determine (we are forcing nature here!!!!), orders are also subject to laboratory queuing (for other gems being made for the trade).
We sincerely ask you to seriously consider your order. Once we have started the ball rolling and received the required portion of the 'cremains', the costs and charges will be mounting daily, some of the work is difficult to cancel, you may wish to retrieve the supply and so we may not be able to refund all of the part-payment, it will depend on the work already carried out. If we have not processed the order and not committed ourselves, i.e. transport or laboratory costs, we will refund you in full LESS a 5% administration charge. We are sure you will not require hair or nail back but if ‘cremains’ have been partially processed - returns may be impracticable if not impossible – so think hard before you order.
Using your loved-ones ashes - We require a minimum amount of ashes, if you are not happy about dealing with the 'cremains' in this way - ask your funeral director to contact us or call us yourself to provide contact consent. You will need to send us a COPY of the cremation certificate, which we will copy, retain the data and attach another copy all the way through the process.

Nowadays contents of packages going abroad are under strict investigation for explosives and drugs, we will need a signed consignment note and other nominal paperwork completing to accompany the ashes. We will arrange for a marked and coded enclosure to be sent to you with all the paperwork necessary and further instructions.

Hair and nail material of deceased loved ones for export is still strictly supervised. We still need approx. 25-30 grams of hair or their nails (or both); this is about a large handful of hair compressed into a ball (a cupful). If you are intending to use this source of your deceased loved-one, we require clean cuttings, ask your undertakers to cut the hair after any viewing and before burial or cremation.

If you are planning on using hair (or nails) of a living loved-one (even an animal), you could take clean cuttings regularly over a period of time to acquire the amounts we need. Seal it in a ‘Zip-Lock’ type bag and simply post it to us with your name and address.

Both arrangements require a 50% pre-paid deposit payment (along with the mentioned paperwork).
As this is likely to be an important purchase for you, we will make arrangements directly with you - firstly by telephone and then by meeting with you to collect the material you wish to be made into a gem.

Using loved-ones ashes is a bit more complex than simply using hair or nails (for exportation etc), there are official papers for the transportation and releasing of ‘cremains’ and identifying the materials etc; for example you will need the crematorium certificate.

Our alternative process (using hair or nails) is simpler and we will contact you to discuss what you are intending to use as the medium and how you can best obtain it, etc:
Conversion of ashes, nails or hair, into a real 1 carat cut and polished yellow diamond costs around £3950 (fully inclusive).

A 1-carat Pink or Blue diamond costs up to £6250. These prices include personal collection of the material, uniquely identifying the source, sending to the laboratory, intermediary depositing of funds and the release and delivery to your door.
Beautiful and unique man-made diamonds (not CZ) in various colours, made from your loved-one’s ashes (nails or hair)...

We have a link on our sister website - www.lastwishes.org.uk - mentioning 'ashes to gems' and we discovered our members and visiting ‘surfers’ were showing interest in having their loved-ones made into diamonds.

We now have a very special and unique product, made from the 'cremains' (cremation ashes) by extracting the carbon content from ashes or hair/nails perhaps of a living friend... The process is secret, patented, and extremely scientific and may be considered expensive for a 1-carat diamond, but the gem is absolutely unique and obviously ‘made’ of your loved-one. At present this is not undertaken in Britain, so import duty and VAT are payable - which has added to the cost, but you do end up with a brilliant real diamond near VS quality.

We can now also use HAIR (and nails) - which we know sounds weird, but it opens new avenues for us, as now the 'loved-one' doesn’t have to be deceased and could even be an animal. The resultant gems are excellent and something to be cherished for eternity.

The range of colours available is most unusual. In nature coloured diamonds are extremely rare and therefore fantastically expensive; but when made in the laboratory it is possible to create Yellow to Amber, Pink to Peachy and Blue to Aqua REAL diamonds and even though these are man-made they are exactly like the rare coloured gems found in nature but cost a fraction of the price.
